Dublin, 7 October 2026 — LDT CitiVERSE EDIC members gathered at Dublin’s historic Custom House for the latest General Assembly, marking another step in the consortium’s growth and operational development. The meeting brought together representatives of Member States, the European Commission and the EDIC team, both in person and online, to review progress, take key organisational decisions and align priorities for the months ahead.
Welcoming Poland to the European ecosystem
One of the highlights of the General Assembly was the approval of Poland’s accession as a new Member State.
Poland’s arrival marks another step in the expansion of the LDT CitiVERSE EDIC community, strengthening cooperation between European countries working towards a shared infrastructure for Networked Local Digital Twins.
As more Member States join the initiative, opportunities grow for cities and national ecosystems to exchange expertise, build on existing solutions and collaborate on common approaches to urban digital transformation.
Strengthening the EDIC as an organisation
Beyond membership growth, the General Assembly focused on the continued development of the EDIC’s governance and operational framework.
Among the decisions taken, members approved the Gender Equality Plan and the Recruitment of Human Resources Policy, reinforcing the organisational foundations needed to support the consortium’s long-term activities.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss management arrangements, strategic priorities and the wider European policy context, including developments related to the next Multiannual Financial Framework (2028–2034).
These discussions are an important part of the EDIC’s transition from establishing its organisational structures to delivering practical support for European cities and public administrations.
From European collaboration to practical services for cities
The Assembly also looked ahead to the next steps in the development of LDT CitiVERSE EDIC’s activities and services.
Updates included progress within the BUILD project, which supports the operational development of the EDIC and its emerging portfolio of services for cities. This work aims to help public administrations identify opportunities for Local Digital Twins, assess their readiness, test solutions and move towards implementation.
Members also discussed upcoming activities, including preparations for Smart City Expo World Congress 2026, taking place in Barcelona from 3 to 5 November.
At the event, LDT CitiVERSE EDIC will bring together European partners at the European Twinning and Citiverse Plaza, where visitors will be able to explore the developing service portfolio, discover practical demonstrations and connect with organisations working on interoperable Local Digital Twin solutions.
The objective is to make European collaboration increasingly tangible for cities: helping them access knowledge, tools and approaches that can be adapted and reused across different local contexts.
Moving forward together
The General Assembly in Dublin was also a valuable opportunity to strengthen relationships between Member States and exchange perspectives on the EDIC’s future development.
LDT CitiVERSE EDIC extends its sincere thanks to its Irish hosts, particularly Mihai Bilauca, Alison Boland and Ian Kerrigan, for their warm welcome and excellent organisation at Custom House.
We also thank all Member State representatives, European Commission colleagues and partners who contributed to the discussions, both in Dublin and remotely.
With a growing community, stronger organisational foundations and an emerging portfolio of services, LDT CitiVERSE EDIC continues working towards a shared European ecosystem where cities can develop, connect and reuse Local Digital Twin solutions.
